Wanting to make a career out of my passion, I pursued a degree in Clothing and Textiles at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. After graduating I worked as an assistant designer in San Francisco for a major women’s clothing manufacturer. Wanting the experience of living in Europe, I took a job in Germany working as a costume designer for a theater company outside Munich. I was then offered an incredible opportunity to travel on a design team throughout Europe installing permanent merchandise displays in department stores.
After moving back to the United States I created a line of handbags from vintage kimonos that were sold across the country.
After having my second child I knew I had to shift my business model. I earned my teaching certificate at Hayward State University and started teaching Adult School classes and doing custom sewing for a select group of interior designers.
I have continued to teach for 16 years and run a custom sewing business out of my home studio.
